Flagging Your Country's Values

June 14 is Flag Day, marking the adoption of the U.S. flag in 1777. In this country, many companies and government agencies celebrate by raising the American flag, whether on a flagpole or virtually, in banner stripes of red, white, and blue on a digital screen.

Our flag honors the world’s longest democracy, one in which the Constitution founders declared our national values: “to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

We may not always achieve those values, but they guide our actions and help our elected leaders make decisions.  Here’s a salute to the flag and the values it represents.
